Sierra's POL

Yesterday was Sierra's Presentation and I am so very proud of her! She completely did the whole thing herself, I did not help her. She worked with her friend, Karlie. Their class all had medical journals and they learned and studied about the digestive system, circulatory system, and the respiratory system. They all had a patient named Harriet. They were told of her symptoms and needed to determine what her ailment was. Sierra decided after careful consideration that she had Tuberculosis. She drew a poster and was very descriptive about why they had come to the conclusion that Harriet had Tuberculosis. They had a script and dressed up as doctors and decorated their area in the cafeteria at COC as a doctors office. They had the very best presentation, I listened to several presentations and they didn't even compare. At the end the teachers announced what Harriet had and...Sierra got it right! She was so excited! They had a constant flow of people at their station. One of the teachers came to them afterwards and said he was so sorry that he missed theirs cause he kept hearing how great it was! Congrats Sierra, all your hard work paid off! Luv u!!!!

Sierra and Karlie had a lateover at our house and me and Ashton played games, Scooby Doo and Connect 4, he kept beating me at Scooby Doo and I kept beating him at Connect 4. Then we cuddled and watched a little bit of TV, Ashton is a cuddler. Sierra was sad when we wanted to take Karlie home at 10:00, but I'm tired, I want to go to bed and they are still only 11. A great start to our Spring Break! :)

On my Soapbox

Today I went with my mom to get a pedicure cuz she is going on a trip and I just got to benefit from it, I guess one of the benefits of working for her and just being right there when she is going and well, she wants some company. :) Thanks mom!
While we were there I observed a little girl slouched way down in their giant chairs, I could barely see her little face above the armrest. I thought the lady next to her was her mom, nope. That lady got up when she was done and paid and left. This little girl was still there getting her manicure and pedicure. I thought maybe her mom was down at the other end, nope again. Her mom WASN'T THERE!!!! These sweet little Korean women were just taking care of this 5 year old kindergardner. In fact, they walked her over to sit and dry and then she wrecked one of her nails so the lady took her to her station and fixed it and then asked the girl at the front desk to call her mom. Meanwhile this little girl sits in the chairs at the front and just SITS there, yep, by herself. She was still there when we left. I was baffled!!! Who does that!!! SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOUR DAUGHTER! She is just a baby, all by herself at the salon doing big girl things all by herself! Made me very sad!!! I wish I could grab that mom by her neck and tell her that she is going to blink and then her baby will be gone!!! I just think some people do not deserve the sacred and precious responsibility of having babies.
I'll get off my soapbox now!

Together

Today was a perfect day! This morning I went on a run/walk with my mom, walked cuz her leg kept hurting her. Still great to be out on a morning when it felt like we live at the beach. :)
Made pancakes, YUM! I ate mine with banana slices, peanut butter and honey! :)
Dusted and decorated for Easter!
Gathered paperwork to give to our accountant for our taxes. :P At least it's done! :)
Went as a little family and we all got slurpies, even ME! :)
Then we went to the pet store and fell in love with the Blue Nosed puppies. (NO, we are not getting a dog.) We just like to adore them at the pet store.
Went to the mall and showed daddy Dig It, cuz he's never been. Then got Si some glasses w/out prescription at Claire's for a presentation she is giving next week. She looks so cute in them. Ashton got some Sticky Stinkie's (or something like that.)
Went to Grandma and Grandpa's and played baseball at the park.
Home and watched Good Luck Charlie with the kids.
Daddy and kids played basketball in the backyard.
Went to Jimmy Dean's for dinner.
Watched "The Muppets" All Together!

Lovin' Friday

Today was a great day! This morning the gym, then Marshall's. I have a love/hate relationship with Marshall's but made it quick and I did get a few cute things. :) Then the office cuz I haven't worked all week, been studying for my exam, then time to get my kids. I LOVE picking up my kids (especially when they sit in the back and are mean to each other the whole way home) today wasn't like that though. Sierra waved at me when she saw me and they were so lovely. When we got home Ashton got in trouble cause he ate a granola bar (we save those for school, I know, I'm so mean!) He wasn't going to be able to have icecream. He asked me what he could do to earn it. His room was a dis.as.ter! If he cleaned his room and put everthing where it was supposed to go he could have icecream after lunch. After fixing them lunch I was cleaning bathrooms and Sierra came and asked if she could help. Whaaa! Of course, I would love that! She cleaned her whole bathroom! I just had to go over a couple of things! Beautiful and sparkly and even better, she cleaned it. While we were cleaning the bathrooms Ashton was busy cleaning his room, it was beautiful! We were all working and working together! Then when I was done mopping the floors of the bathrooms I walked out to the kitchen and my kids had made me lunch! I kinda knew it was coming cause they would come back to the bathroom and ask "mom, just wondering, what do you like on your burrito? Just wondering?" They made a huge delicious burrito with everything I like, some chips and salsa and a big glass of water! We sat and watched Good Luck Charlie. I have great kids!
When daddy came home we used our free queso and chips coupon at Chili's for dinner. Love family time!

1/2 birthday

Today Ashton is 7 1/2 and he says To me, "today was a pretty great half birthday. You worked in my class. Daddy and Sierra (for the first time) played basketball with me in the backyard. We got to have yummy burritos. And watch the Laker game." Funny, didn't even know we were making his day! Just happened that way, glad it was a great 1/2 birthday!

Hard to keep up...

So much has been happening, hard to keep up!
A week ago, Friday Ashton had his Presentation of Learning and he got to present his Killer Whale project that he has been working so hard on. He had all of his visual aids and he memorized 3 of his facts so he could present. Grammy, Daddy, Aunt Sophi and her kids all came (Sierra came downstairs.) :) Good Job buddy!

On Saturday was Ashton's last basketball game. Wow has he improved alot! He LOVES basketball and wants to play all the time. We have a puny hoop in our backyard that he plays on and a puny hoop hooked on his closet that he plays on too.

Ashton tested and is now a yellow belt. I got this picture on my phone last Monday cause I was at school. Daddy sent it and I was a proud mommy! :)
He even slept with his belt that night. :)
Monday night when I got home from school I helped Sierra make a giant cookie for her friend Chloe. We made it heart shaped and Sierra placed chocolate chips in the middle in a giant 10 and put chocolate chips all around the edge. She called Chloe's mom ahead of time and got printed pictures of Chloe from Chloe's brother. Sierra secretly decorated her desk early Tuesday morning. She got her a new scripture bag and wrote her a nice note.
Tuesday Sierra got to get out of school early again. Chloe's mom picked them up at 11 and took them to the American Girl store and cafe. They had lunch and then each girl got to pick something out under $25. WOW! Sierra was spoiled. She got to eat so much yummy food and came home with a new outfit for her doll and a birthday celebration t-shirt and plastic balloon for her doll too! :) What a fun day!
This last Thursday, Ashton's class celebrated St. Patrick's Day. He had to make a leprachaun trap at home and bring it in. So, me and Sierra helped him make a trap on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
The leprachaun would even have a bed to sleep in! :)

 Just because...she is so cute!
On Wednesday Norris and Brenna came into town so Thursday me and Brenna exercised in the morning and then my kids had a half day so they came with me to pick up the kids and roared at them when the dad that helps with valet opened the door, scared the willies out of my kids. I wish I had it on video, it was so FUNNY! We went to The Habit for lunch and then went to the park to play.
Sierra had Activity Days and had to act out for Charades her favorite Book of Mormon story. She did the Brother of Jared. She had a whole bag of props, including rocks with gold glitter. She loves that sort of thing!
Thursday night, Norris and Brenna came back over to have icecream with us and made an announcement too! Norris said, "we have a birthday party that we want to invite you too!" My brother is going to be a daddy! :) They even had an ultrasound picture of the little peanut too! I totally guessed that Brenna was pregnant. Totally knew it for weeks. :) So excited to be an auntie again!!! Baby is coming in October!
Friday night was Ashton's basketball party. He got his trophy and coach (Shawn Lyon) said he was a great defender and hopes Ashton doesn't stop playing basketball! :)
Saturday it rained! We love it when it rains! We had green pancakes! Happy St. Patrick's Day! We put our green on and I studied most of the day. Saturday evening my mom brought salad from Stonefire and pizza from Vincenzo's and everyone came over, she brought icecream too! We had Norris and Brenna, Brenna's parents and brother, Sophi and Rich and kids, Cousin Marshall and Whitney.
We had fun visiting and playing Draw Something with each other on our phones. We watched "The Count of Monte Cristo" too. An all-time favorite for all of us! Only Marshall and Whit stayed long enough to finish it.
Today Chase and Jacque blessed their baby, Jane. We all went to the Harris Ranch for lunch after church. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful baby!
This Wednesday I have my 2nd exam, wish me luck! :)

Happy Birthday Rocky!

Today, my nephew, Rocky turned 5. I took my kids out of school at 11:30 and had Jack in the Box waiting for them in the car and we headed to the movie theatre for Rocky's birthday party. We saw The Lorax. Cute movie! Then we went to Party City to pick up Rocky's balloons and over to the park for cake, presents and playing. What a fun birthday!

A need to mention...

Sierra babysat for us on Friday night! :) Jake and I went out on a date, went to dinner, to sushi in fact.  I LOVE sushi, so so good! We were only gone for about 45 minutes and she did a great job. All was well when we got home. Wierd for me to be at this stage, will take time to get used to her babysitting but she is very capable and very responsible. If anyone needs a babysitter, call Sierra! She is great with all ages. :) There's her shout out! :) I did take Ashton yesterday to get him a killer whale and it has been in his hands ever since. It's tiny but he even held it in his sleep and took it with him to pee this morning. :) If you want to know anything about killer whales ask him, he'll be able to tell you!

In other words, catch up day! This week has been as crazy as every week. I got the results back from my first Lecture Exam, 95%; and my Lab Practical, I thought I BOMBED, 96%!!!! Thanks be to my Heavenly Father! I really think he wants me to keep this up and not give up! He is pushing me in this direction, I know it, it's unbelievable! The rest of the week consisted of the usual; piano, school, Sierra took a field trip to the California Science Center and said it was amazing, she has started studying anatomy at school so it has been so fun to be learning and sharing with each other, karate, basketball practice.
Today we had Ashton's basketball game, we went to Lincoln's football game too! Sierra started writing her Thank You's! Ashton has been playing and wants to go get a killer whale toy cause this next week he is doing a project presentation on killer whales and has LOVED researching and learning so much about them. Catching up on my blog, reading my textbook and plan on watching a movie with my kids and later with my husband!
