A Birthday and a Funeral

A busy busy day! Woke up early this morning to hang up our Happy Birthday banner and make our birthday girl some Chocolate Chip pancakes. Hurried along to get to the church by 8:00am because it was our turn to help clean. Again hurried to get home and showered so we could attend Grandma Maryann's Funeral.
Maryann is my step-dad's (Chris) mother. What a beautiful service. I knew Maryann had done alot in her lifetime but WOW! She had two Master degrees and her Real Estate License. She belonged to several Choral Societies. She was a soloist and had leading roles in several productions, she was the Musical Director of several productions. She had several recordings including The King and I and Saturday's Warrior. She had 5 children. She had a highly trained voice and was a beautiful vocalist. A truly amazing person!
At the graveside...
Chris dedicated the grave and it was lightly raining the whole time and then...
Chase, Chris and ShaneI told Sierra that the flower is Grandma Maryann's birthday present to her.
Ashton and Nixon were having way to much fun playing in the rain during the dedication.
it started pouring. It was even raining under the canopy they had set up for us. We ran to the car. Everyone was soaking wet! The rain held up long enough to get the job done and then Heavenly Father said okay that's it go eat your lunch.
My mom told us that Maryann loved the rain so it was very appropriate that it was raining.
Grampy announced that it is Sierra's Birthday and everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. She came back to the table and told me that she really liked that. She thought that Grampy was mad at her and she was going to get in trouble because when he asked her to come over she was playing with the chairs. When she realized that she was not in trouble and everyone was going to sing to her she was thrilled! :)
NOW IT'S TIME TO PARTY! All of our family came over to our house for cookies and milk. We made special cookies for Sierra's birthday. They had chocolate chips in them and Reeses peanut butter chips. They were delicious!

Her cookie is drowning, she put it in her milk and then walked away from the table. :)We played Secret Sierra. We printed out a picture of Sierra on cardstock and Sierra secretly stuck it on a family member's back when they came in the house. When they discovered it on their back they needed to sign it and then secretly stick it on someone else's back. It was really fun and very funny! The kids loved it!
We also played Sierra's Favorite Things. Everyone got a piece of paper with questions about Sierra's Favorite Things. Also very funny! When Sierra gives her answers some people do not agree. :)
Her new outfit from Justice. Nana and Papa took her shopping in the afternoon and she was putting on a fashion show. Sierra felt very loved! We have a great family!
After the party we went to Dad's for pizza and salad. A great day!

My Girl...

Today is my Sierra's 9th Birthday!
What a sweet, wonderful, beautiful daughter I have been so blessed with! She adds so much joy and love to our home. She is so lovey and would just hold my hand all day (if she could be home all day) and give me lots of hugs and kissys. She loves to be home with her family, and we love being home with her too, so great when we can all be together! She has a strong desire to do good and she is a great example to me. I love you my precious girl! Happy Birthday!

Look what Sierra got for her birthday...

Her best friend, Karlie, came with us and held Sierra's hand because she was nervous! (nervous but so excited!) What a sweet friend!

She wanted Karlie to hold her hand at this point too...

She's doing it, she's getting her ears pierced! Sierra asked the lady that was going to pierce them if it hurts. The lady said no. What a liar, unless I'm not remembering right! I had told Sierra all week when she would ask me repeatedly it would hurt, it would pinch, but it wouldn't hurt for long. At least now she knows to trust her mom!
Here come some tears...

and a needed hug from mommy! (I was cleaning my hands so I could clean her ears.)Sierra said, "it hurt but it was so worth it!"

She got a few pairs of earrings, a Best Friends magnetic mood necklace, and Karlie bought her a headband.

And then we went to Golden Spoon and used her card she got from Primary to get her free Golden Spoon. LOVE THAT! :)
Karlie stayed at our house for a Late Over and they had such a fun time together. Sierra and I took her home about 10:45pm. Sierra said that was the best Play Date ever! :)

Mommy Daughter Date

For Sierra's birthday we went to the American Girl Place just the 3 (me, Sierra, and Chrissa of course) of us! The best part was just being able to spend one on one time with my Si. She was so happy and we just went wherever she wanted to go.

Chrissa got her ears pierced and we got a chair that folds out and some glasses for Chrissa.

Then we ate lunch at the Cafe. The cutest cafe you ever saw! PINK! Sierra got chicken tenders and mac and cheese. I got a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. They also start you off with cinnamon rolls, fruit kabobs, bruchetta (sp?), veggie sticks. After lunch they bring you dessert; yummy chocolate mousse, heart shaped cake and a star shaped cookie.
When we were waiting to go into the Cafe Sierra said to me, "What more could a girl want!"

Sierra I enjoyed every minute with you! Thanks for taking me along! Love you!

Happy Birthday in Korean

Sierra and I made fruit kabobs to share with her class for her birthday. Today was International Day and they were learning about Korea so the class learned how to sing Happy Birthday in Korean and sang it to Sierra. It was so GREAT!

Happy Birthday in Korean is written on the board.

Book of Mormon Stories

The song goes like this...
"Givin' this land,
if they live,
RIGHTEOUSLY."

Ashton sang it...
"Givin' a chance,
Wet my pants..."

I said to him, wait that is not how it goes. Who taught you to sing it that way?
A: nobody, how does it go?
Mom: (sing the song)
A: OH!

Here is the bridge we went to on Sunday before church. It is the highest bridge in California and possibly in the US.

The boys running on the bridge.
We are enjoying the view from the bridge.

This was interesting...
