It was Uncle Rich's birthday so we had dutch oven chocolate cake and sang to him!
My kids were so excited to be there. When we first got there they ate a little bit of dinner, it was hotdogs and a nacho mixture in the dutch oven that we ate with chips, OMGolly SO DELISH!!!! ran out to the beach and asked if they could get in the water with their clothes on, I said SURE! :) We got jammies on and then brushed teeth and then we went out to the beach in the dark. SO MUCH FUN! Came back to the campsite and got in our tent and read stories with the flashlight and Sierra wrote in her blessings book.
Next morning Sophi made a delicious dutch oven omelete, so good!!! Then we cleaned up camp (camping for one night, TOTALLY WORTH IT!) and then we went to the beach for the day. Beautiful in the morning and then the clouds rolled in...didn't care, we stayed anyway. Sophi had to leave to get back for soccer practice but Brenna stayed with us. It even sprinkled on us.
Aunt Brenna helped the kids make the Carpinteria Temple.:)
and then we got Fosters Freeze on the way home.
August 28th was my husband's birthday!!! My mom had our camera in Orange County so I didn't get a picture of him, SAD! :( But, I wanted him to know that I love him with all my heart! He is my world!! He is so supportive and I know he loves me because he tells me and shows me and takes such great care of me! I love you Jake!!! Happy Birthday!
Then a sad day! My kids started school. We were all ready to start school but we still don't like it! Sierra was great when we first got there she went upstairs all by herself. Ashton was a little iffy. He cried a little when I left but was ok. The 2nd day was a different story. He was hysterical. I took him outside cause he felt like he was going to throw up. His teacher from last year was so great cause she saw him having a really hard time and asked if she could sit with him so I could leave. I left and got in my car and cried and cried and called Jake and cried some more and then got to work and cried some more. A couple of hours later his teacher called me and left a message cause I was in the bathroom and said he was really upset and maybe it would help if he talked to me, I don't think so. The yard duty took his upstairs to see his sister and that seemed to help. I called Jake and asked him to go have lunch with him cause I had class. He did and told me that Ashton seemed to be doing fine. I went to school when I got out of my class so I was early and he was ok just really tired. A long day for these big 1st graders.
Sierra is still doing great! Loving 5th grade, loving her friends and her teacher, loving school. 3rd for Ashton, a few tears in the morning but definately better. My mom, Rocky and I went and had lunch with him and he did great and when we left he was great! I went back early again just to be with him. Day 4, better, a few tears again but better! Jake had lunch with him and I went early. Day 5, GREAT! no tears! Went early and helped in his class for a couple of hours and then we left cause it was our short day. Sierra got to go to the beach with her friend, Chloe and we went bowling with Soph and her boys. Ashton had tears there too but only because he is so DANG competitive.
What a week, but we survived!
Hopefully I can keep up on this blog, we shall see!

Friday morning me, Cousin Amanda, Sis Sophi and Sophi's sis-in-law in front Trish went for a run. I love running at the beach!
The kids were having the time of their little lives the whole time we were there!
Sierra, Lincoln, Ashton, Melissa, Rossi, JR
Then we took the kids to the Seal Sanctuary.

My cousin Amanda's little girl, Melissa. She is quite a little beauty!
The sun came out and we headed to the beach. My kids were on a mission to pull all of the seaweed out of the ocean.
Uncle Norris is so fun! He built the kids a swimming pool.
We got all changed and toasty warm and Grammy had dinner going in the dutch oven. She put a pot roast in there with carrots and potatoes. So so yummy!!! The corn roasting on the coals...so so yummy too! What a great dinner.
